Shiatsu Massage in Rome
An ancient Japanese finger-pressure technique, at your home in Rome.
Pressure, rhythm
and listening
Shiatsu literally means "finger pressure".
Shiatsu is a Japanese technique with its roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Using the pressure of my fingers, my palms and sometimes my elbows and knees, I work along the meridians and on the tsubo points, following what the body communicates.
It is not a fixed sequence: each session adapts to the person in front of me. I bring Shiatsu to your home in Rome, so that you can enjoy the treatment in the calm of your own space.
Origins
A thousand-year-old tradition
Traditional Chinese Medicine, codified more than two thousand years ago, reads the body as a network of channels through which vital energy, ki, flows. Shiatsu gathers up its principles and entrusts them to the hands.
-
1940
Namikoshi style
Tokujiro Namikoshi founds the first Shiatsu school in Japan. A rigorous, anatomical approach, with perpendicular, gradual pressure applied with the thumbs.
-
1968
Masunaga style
Shizuto Masunaga takes Shiatsu beyond anatomy: at its centre are the meridians and the person’s energy, with a listening that guides every pressure.
Who it’s for
When the body asks for a pause
Shiatsu is a moment of listening to yourself. You don’t need a specific complaint to receive it: the wish to slow down is enough.
-
When stress builds up
Tension that spreads from the muscles to the whole body and leaves a feeling of constant tiredness.
-
When rest isn’t enough
In times when sleep is light and the mind struggles to slow down.
-
When the body is stiff
A neck, back and shoulders carrying the weight of posture and of long days.
-
To find balance again
As a moment of self-care, even without a particular reason.
Shiatsu is a practice for the person’s wellbeing: it does not replace medical examinations, diagnoses or therapies.
My approach
«Technique is the tool. Listening is the method. The person is the centre.»
What happens
How a session works
A session can last as long as an hour. The rhythm is slow and every pressure comes from listening: the fingers seek out the points of emptiness and fullness and bring them back into balance.
-
The conversation
Before starting we take a few minutes: you tell me how you are, what you are feeling and what you expect from the session.
-
In your home
I come to your home in Rome and prepare a calm, welcoming space, so that you can think only of yourself.
-
Pressure and stretching
I work along the meridians, alternating pressure and stretches, always judging my weight by your response.
-
Time to come back
At the end you stay in silence for a few minutes, to feel your body and take the calm of the session with you.
